Shayna Israel ’08 wins Leeway Grant

Poet, rapper, and teacher Shayna Israel ’08 has won a $2,500 grant from the Leeway Foundation to support “Saturday Cipher,” a seven-month series of classes in poetry, rap, and performance for Philadelphia-area youth of color. The series will culminate in a music video as well as anthologies in book and audio form.

Laurie Roberts Belton ’83 to lead World Teach

Laurie Roberts Belton ’83 has become the executive director of World Teach, a nongovernmental organization based at the Center for International Development at Harvard University. World Teach places volunteer teachers in host communities across the globe.
