Nina Jablonski ’75 elected to American Philosophical Society

Nina Jablonski ’75, professor and chair of the Pennsylvania State University Department of Anthropology, has been elected to membership in the American Philosophical Society, the nation’s oldest learned society.

Jablonski’s groundbreaking research on the evolution of skin color in humans has earned academic laurels as well as attention from the popular press; she has been interviewed by media outlets from The New York Times to The Colber Report. Her book Skin: A Natural History won the W.W. Howells Award of the American Anthropological Association for best book in biological anthropology in 2007.
