Kerstin Nordstrom ’04 has been awarded a Mass Media Fellowship by the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
The fellowship is a 10-week program that places graduate and post-graduate level science, engineering, and mathematics students at media organizations nationwide. The fellowship is designed to train future scientists to become more effective communicators, and also for them to realize the importance of translating their work to the public. In turn, the placement sites get a science expert in their newsroom over the summer.
Nordstrom is a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Maryland’s Institute of Physical Science and Technology. Her fellowship placement is at the Raleigh News & Observer in North Carolina.
