Grace Hood ’00, a reporter for Northern Colorado public-radio station KUNC, earned the station its first national Edward R. Murrow Award last June. Hood’s story, “Two Men, Two Women and a Baby,” which won the prize for audio feature reporting, is an account of two Boulder, Colo., couples and their collaborative route to parenthood. One of the women was a cancer survivor who had had her ova harvested and fertilized before undergoing cancer treatments; her friend offered to carry the baby for her.

The Edward R. Murrow Awards are presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in recognition of what the Association terms “outstanding achievements in electronic journalism.”
